It’s late spring on the farm and I can’t believe I’m still spinning so much! Business has definitely slowed, but I’m at nearly twice the gross income as last May and it’s a bit of a surprise. I think it’s the doll makers…I get so many sales from customers who make Waldorf dolls. I make and sell them too, and I keep telling myself I’ll get a half dozen made and list them on Etsy but I’m too darn busy. Here’s a photo of a couple of dolls I’ve made for Violet–Alice (much loved, with dark handpainted red hair) and Hazel (her new little sister with “Harvest Moon” handspun yarn hair):
But for now, I’m busy with yarn. Here are two of the newest colorways:
And I’m busy with farming. We have three WWOOFers here now and I’m uber busy with baby plants, garden layout, and weather watching. We’ve installed most of our annual garden (over an acre) and added more plants to the herb garden-pennyroyal, spilanthes, dyer’s coreopsis, bergamot, anise hyssop, rue, mad dog skullcap, valerian, and a bunch of others… plus a few like stevia and lemongrass which will stay in the greenhouse. I like that all of these plants were started from seed in our greenhouse. Herbs can be somewhat tricky to germinate and propagate, so I’m sorta proud of that garden.
The annual space is looking good. I posted a bunch of photos from a couple of weeks back on the farm’s photobucket account. Looks way different already!
